The App to Bring Back House Calls

Tired of having to set up an appointment, drive to the doctor’s office, and then wait for 45 minutes, all for a 5-minute conversation with the doctor? Well, if you live in Manhattan and have a smartphone, you now have another option. Meet Pager:

Pager

Quality, personal care. Get immediate attention for you and your family, from a board-certified doctor near you. …

PagerPager, in theory, allows you to have a personal phone conversation with a doctor only moments after pressing a button. If that’s not enough for you, the doctor will actually make a house call and come right to your door. That’s the theory, at least. Being a relatively small startup, some are doubtful of how successful it will be – particularly when you look at the price tag:

Uber’s been making waves…by letting you flag down fancy cars, so is it any surprise that one of its early engineers created another “we’ll come to you” startup? It’s called Pager…

For those Manhattan-dwellers who have started using Uber, it may not surprise you that this idea came from one of Uber’s engineers. Here’re the details:

Early Uber Engineer Launches Pager, a Doctor-Makes-House-Call App
There will be a doctor in the house – your house. That is: If you need one, if you live in Manhattan, if you have a mobile device and if you’re willing to shell out $300 for a house call. …

It sounds like a cool idea to me, but I don’t know many people who could afford the price. Do you think it will take off?
